For Hannerl and Thomas Hasenauer, being hosts is more than a profession – it is a way of life.

Together with the Römerhof team, they create the warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes a stay here feel so personal. Whether greeting you at reception, sharing a favourite wine, looking after you in the restaurant, accompanying you on a guided hike or enjoying a day on the slopes together – Hannerl and Thomas love to share their passion for the Gastein Valley with their guests.

Always approachable and happy to help, they combine many years of experience with something that cannot be taught: a genuine love of hospitality.

Two Generations, One Family Tradition

The Römerhof has been shaped by generations of the Hasenauer family – and by a tradition of hospitality that comes from the heart.

Our beloved mother, Helene Hasenauer, devoted many years of her life to the Römerhof. With her warmth, dedication and unmistakable personality, she helped make the hotel what it is today. Her influence and the values she held dear can still be felt throughout the house.

Today, Thomas and Hannerl Hasenauer continue this tradition with the same personal commitment and passion for hospitality. Their aim is simple: to create a place where guests can relax, enjoy themselves and feel truly welcome from the moment they arrive.

And the family story continues. Our son Christoph is already an active part of the Römerhof, bringing his own ideas, energy and enthusiasm to the family business. Our daughter Eva-Maria has also found her place in the world of hospitality and works in an internationally renowned medical spa hotel group.

Different paths, but a shared passion for hospitality.

A Team That Feels Like Family

Of course, the Römerhof would not be what it is without the wonderful people who work alongside us every day.

Together, up to 23 members of staff take care of our guests – at reception, in the kitchen and restaurant, in our wellness area, housekeeping and maintenance. Every single member of the team contributes to the relaxed, personal atmosphere that makes the Römerhof so special.

We are especially proud that many of our colleagues have been with us for many years. Over time, they have become much more than employees – they have become part of the extended Römerhof family.

Head Chef Christian Koppensteiner and his team have been delighting our guests with their culinary creations for many years. And our head waiter Wolfgang has been part of the Römerhof story for more than three decades.

This long-standing connection can be felt throughout the hotel – in the way we work together, in the familiar faces our returning guests look forward to seeing and in the genuine warmth with which we welcome every guest.

Because for us, true hospitality is about more than excellent service. It is about people, personal connections and making you feel genuinely at home.
