ARRIVE WITHOUT TRAFFIC JAMS
... because construction is underway!
The A10 Tauern motorway is one of the busiest north-south routes in Europe. Thousands of cars and lorries thunder along this picturesque route every day. Since September, this motorway has been undergoing a complete overhaul, resulting in a chain of consecutive roadworks. This also affects our guests, as they also use the A10 coming from Germany from Salzburg to the motorway exit Knoten Pongau/Bischofshofen.
There are alternative routes, but they are very time-consuming. Examples of this:
At Rosenheim southwards towards Tyrol,
at Kufstein towards KitzbĂĽhel, then via KitzbĂĽhel - Pass Thurn - Zell am See -
into the Gastein Valley.
At Salzburg towards Vienna - leave the motorway at Thalgau, via the Salzkammergut with its world of lakes, i.e. Fuschl - St. Gilgen - Bad Ischl - Bad Aussee - Liezen and through the Enns Valley to Radstadt - a short distance back onto the A10 to the Pongau junction and then on to us in Dorfgastein.
At Munich towards Passau - Schärding - continue on the A9 motorway to Liezen, through the Ennstal valley to Radstadt: here too only briefly onto the A10, but this is a really long way round.
Please be aware of the vignette (toll sticker) requirement on all Austrian motorways! During winter you should equip your vehicle with the appropriate winter snow tyres.
